Waryn Landelle, Duke of Lysley, remembers the soft touch of the angel that nursed him back to health at the abbey but he can’t remember the face. Could the soft touch of Sibil be the woman he has longed for?
When Waryn returns to his estate it’s Valentine’s Day. He finds Aunt Alice has gathered a large crowd together for a banquet. It is tradition that a lady’s name be drawn from a Valentine Box. The lady will be the laird’s sweetheart and under his protection for a year. Desire surged through Waryn from the moment he saw Sibil Carlisle’s “summer green eyes;” he would protect her and longed to make her his forever. Her father Sir William Carlisle hates Waryn, blaming him for the death of Simon at the Battle of Gerberny.
Sibil is beautiful and innocent but she wants to know what it’s like to lie with a man before she enters her aunt’s convent at Burgundy. “Love me as a man loves a woman.” Marriage to a man that wants a high dower would be impossible. She has no dower and she wants a man that will give her his heart. She finds she is falling in love with Waryn but feels she is beneath his station in life.
Waryn must face Gregory, the brother that betrayed him, and face a secret he wants kept hidden. Can Waryn forgive Gregory before death claims him?
Marissa Alwin offers readers the perfect Valentine book. The story is erotic and romantic. The characters are well developed. Sibil is sure to be a favorite - innocent, curious and beautiful. Waryn is strong and yet gentle. Gregory as a secondary character was very interesting and would make a great hero in another book. Sir William Carlisle was a great antagonist. I really would have enjoyed scenes where Waryn confronted him. My only criticism is the book was too short and I didn’t want it to end; 56 pages were just not enough of these wonderful characters. I highly recommend “Heart on His Sleeve” to all who enjoy erotic romance.
