“From Mount Olive Road,” is a collection of writings and musings that have previously been published in a newspaper in Dr. Cargile’s home state of Alabama.  He makes his home on Mount Olive Road in western Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.  He describes this place as an enchanting place to live.

This e-book is only 107 pages, yet it is not something to be read in a single sitting.   I found myself reading a couple of articles at a time, and then thinking about what was written.   The topics cover a broad range including, destiny, coincidence, spiritual growth, cosmic consciousness, life and death, and aspects of healing that range from laughter to alternative medicine.  In healing, he feels that it is God’s responsibility to heal us, not our own.

Dr. Cargile discusses the importance of using prayer and meditation.  He includes some beautiful and power prayers and affirmations in this collection.  He also offers some ideas on things that we can do, or places that we can go, to further our spiritual growth.  He states, “Stillness in the midst of a maddening world is the secret to knowing one self.”

I enjoyed reading “From Mount Olive Road,” and how it made me think on a deeper level about the interesting topics discussed.  I think that this would be an excellent book for a spiritual readers’ group.  In addition to promoting spiritual growth, the writings also would stimulate some interesting discussions.  It is also a great book for someone who does not have a lot of time to read, yet needs some words to feed his soul.
