Corporate Adultery: The Married Bachelor I could not wait to get my hands on “Corporate Adultery,” and I wasn’t disappointed. I ended up reading it in one sitting. I was not going to go to bed until I finished it. The story begins with a woman named Darcie who finally thinks that she met Mr. Right. Mr. Right’s name is Ned. As you read the story, you see Darcie getting caught up in what she wanted to believe was a perfect relationship, but actually the warning signs were present early on. I could really relate to this character. I think that when most of us want something so badly, we tend to brush aside the warnings, especially when we get caught up with someone that knows how to play the game. Darcie marries Ned and finds herself feeling incomplete in her relationship. The story is very entertaining; she has a wicked mother-in-law and a husband that is clearly a self-centered jerk. Fortunately Darcie has very close friends to help her through her misery. After she finds herself alone while recovering from a life-threatening health crisis, Darcie begins to look into Ned’s activities and his financial expenditures. Ned has not been a good boy. Darcie uses her intelligence and resourcefulness to catch Ned in everything that he has done wrong. Many of his activities were committed while at work. She discovers that the company he works for has many people engaging in immoral activities. Darcie starts gathering evidence about his illicit behavior. Then she gets her revenge. The author June Gavin comes up with some really wicked ideas for entrapping Ned. Some of these activities involve Darcie dressing up as a hooker. While sad, it was also incredibly entertaining. As I was reading the story, part of me was enjoying it, the other part was taking notes. I also had a few ideas of my own of things that she could have done. This made me feel like Darcie was real and I was in it with her. “Corporate Adultery” is a great book to read. If you enjoyed “The First Wives Club,” you will really enjoy this one. I recommend it to women in general, but especially those going through divorce or for a woman’s reader group. This story is guaranteed to lead to some lively discussions. |
