Gabi rushes to her Nonna’s house when summoned. When she arrives, Nonna explains that she wants to share the “secret family recipe” with her. Nonna begins telling about her and Nonno’s (Alberto), sex life. She beings the tale when she was still a virgin. Nonna goes into graphic detail. Gabi starts out blushing then becomes concerned thinking that Nonna may be having a stroke. Then Gabi finally starts truly listening and becomes engrossed in the beautiful love story of her grandparents. The story is one filled with emotion and passion. Nonna describes their first tongue kiss. She uses great detail. But she doesn’t stop there she continues by sharing more vivid details leaving nothing to the imagination. The first time Nonna and Nonno made love wasn’t the only time for that evening. They were intimate at least three more times that night.
Nonna insists that Gabi call her Aunt Tessie. Tessie was expecting the call. She also began telling the story of how the secret recipe was responsible for the success in winning the heart of Uncle Tonio. She describes how he declared his love to her in the laundry room, making love to her among the machines.
Gabi is sure the recipe will never work on Tom. After all he’s not like other men he’s different. He’s strong and powerful and a businessman. But Nonna and Gabi made the recipe anyway. Gabi hoped it would work. She served Tom a wonderful meal but the desert was the special part. Would it work or would she be the first woman in the family’s history to fail?
No one wants to think of his or her parents or grandparents having sex. Let’s face it; it just grosses us out. We’d like to think they were “pure” to the end. UMMMM…but then where did we come from? I forgot about the cabbage leaf for a moment. However, if someone in my family has the “secret recipe” I sure wish they would pass it on to me.
