Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey Treats for Kids
What grandmother wouldn’t be the “bestest Nana in the whole world” when she creates the stickiest, chewiest, messiest, gooiest treats for her grandchildren? I certainly have fallen into that category! Jill O’Connor knows the path to the heart of children as she presents a wonderful collection of treats that are easy to make, and scrumptious to eat. But, I’ll let you in on a secret: the treats also are a hit with Papa when we do a practice run. For starters, how about “A Is for Apple Pie - Stuffed French Toast?” The novel idea of putting 1/4 cup of Apple Pie Compote on a slice of bread, topping it with another, and then creating French toast from it is ingenious. And the “Hunka Chunka Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies” are to die for. What’s different from others? Probably the Nana touch and love put into making them. Whatever it was, it was something special because they were different. The most different for me to try was the “Melt-In-Your-Mouth Chocolate Frosting” that used a cup of sour cream. I believe this ingredient made a difference in the texture and ended up nothing like any butter-cream frosting I’ve made before. Okay, how much more can I say about this wonderful recipe book? Jill O’Connor created a winner and found another way for us grandparents to shine in the grandchildren’s eyes. However, that said, this recipe book isn’t directed for grandparents only, but for anyone that spends time with children (from the toddler to those that are 99) and wants to create special treats they would love. Just buy this book - “Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey Treats for Kids” by Jill O’Connor - open to any page, and start creating the yummiest treats you’ve ever tasted.
