Seventy-two years ago, the vampire Santos Diaz’s fiancé Esperanza was murdered. He has been celibate and alone ever since. He performs a ritual on Dia De Los Muertos to try to bring her back. The ritual takes place in the cemetery near her grave. After completing the ceremony, he realizes that she is still gone, but he discovers his accountant Yelina Cruz is nearby. Yelina has always yearned to be loved. She also has always found Santos to be very attractive.
Because Esperanza has not been revived and Yelina is there, Santos sees this as a sign that he is meant to move on with Yelina. In the heat of the moment, Yelina and Santos come together and act on their attraction for each other. Shortly afterward, they encounter some evil vampires who want to sacrifice Yelina to bring back Esperanza. As much as Santos loves Esperanza, he does not want to have Yelina lose her life to bring her back. He fights to save her.
“Day of the Dead” is a highly-erotic vampire story. It takes place over less than seventy-pages which makes it perfect for a romance reader who needs a break. This book will definitely provide the reader with a much needed distraction! I highly recommend it.
