The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy
Well, it’s that time of year again for most of us to start thinking about our New Year resolutions and, typical of most of us, weight loss is something we think about. However, if you are like me, I have tried everything out there to no avail. Mark Sisson’s book gives us an in-depth look at why we need to reprogram ourselves, our nutrition and our lifestyle. Most of us want a quick fix, but as so many will tell us, it took time for us to get hefty and it will take time to make changes. Sisson says we don’t have to blame our genes for our being unfit; they can be programmed to change. We need plenty of sleep, activity, sunlight and fun. He relates that we should be looking at the basic natural foods of fish, nuts, and seeds along with an active life-style. They worked for mankind before, so why not go back to them? There are ten Primal Blueprint Laws that the author addresses in this book, ranging from avoiding poisonous things to using our brain. One of my favorite laws is Avoiding Poisonous Things. As we grocery shop we look at those things that are easy to cook and don’t require much thought, but all those processed foods we are putting into our body are killing us. We want everything yesterday and don’t take the time to really evaluate our current lifestyle until it is too late. “The Primal Blueprint” by Mark Sisson is not a book that one can just thumb through as each chapter builds on the other, giving great examples and the author provides some humor in there as well. If you are really serious about making positive changes, this is an excellent read and guide for you. |
