Baby Boomer Investing George Yared has written an interesting book to guide Baby Boomers in investing and preparing for retirement. People born in 1946-1964 are called Baby Boomers; I happen to be one of them. We Baby Boomers have seen great changes in the world. Technology has advanced; we now have cell phones, computers, HDT, video games, digital cameras, email and electronic resumes and the Internet. It is estimated that we will live longer. We are the children of the “Greatest Generation.” “Our homes have increased in value,” we have 401K’s and IRAs. The purpose of this book is to educate the Baby Boomer in investing. When investing you need a broker. You should carefully interview him or her. “Remember, it’s your money you want them to handle.” You want to know the broker’s philosophy on investing. You want to know their favorite analyst, their philosophy on asset allocation and how often they review a portfolio. Among the things you need to do is set a target price. With so many Baby Boomers getting older healthcare is a growing business. Mr. Yared suggests several stocks that have good potential in the healthcare field. He also has suggestions for lifestyle stocks, alternative energy stocks and technology stocks. When we were growing up we bought American, which is no longer true. Consider spreading your investments internationally. While the problem of Social Security must be addressed and addressed now, we as Baby Boomers can feel secure that we will draw a monthly pension from it. However, our children and grandchildren do not have that security. We need to also realize that we cannot live on Social Security alone and maintain our lifestyle. “Baby Boomer Investing” by George Yared, offers logical advice on investing for our future. He writes in terms that even I, a layman, can understand. He suggests stocks that he thinks have great potential. After reading this book I feel better educated to make investing decisions. His book is well-written and in a commonsense manner. The cover is inviting, a blue sky and mountain in the background with group of people slightly out of focus. The print is a nice size making it easier for older eyes to read. I’ve read several other books that claim to educate the reader in investing; this book is far superior to any I’ve read. I highly recommend this book to all adults. |
