Tentacles of Time: A Spiritual Odyssey
This story is an autobiography written by a truly remarkable woman, Marjorie de Cuba. The “Tentacles of Time: A Spiritual Odyssey” is about a woman who overcomes what would be insurmountable obstacles to most to achieve so much in her lifetime. I am glad that her children and husband, Will, talked her into writing this very candid story about her life. As a 42-year old woman who recently went through a divorce, this story gave me hope that things really can turn out okay in the end. The story begins when Marge’s adoptive parents rescue her from an abusive birth father. Her early years with her adoptive family are very strict and they have a hard time understanding Marge’s aspirations of going to college. A hard worker, Marge works her way through high school and undergraduate school as a florist to realize her dream of becoming an educator. She ends up marrying young and badly, finally seeking a divorce after many years in an unfulfilling marriage. As the sole support of her three young children in the crazy 60’s and 70’s, Marge faces many challenges. She manages to pick herself up time and time again and also goes on many adventures which include selling everything to move to France for a year with her youngest daughter to get her master’s degree. Her expertise in education and second languages takes her to many interesting places; earn her two master’s degrees and a PhD and several jobs over the years. As Marge’s life progresses, she starts to remember past lifetimes and realize how those experiences relate to this lifetime. While all these things are happening, she prays to meet her perfect life partner. After twenty years, the love of her life arrives in a much different package than she would have expected. Their cultural and age differences prove not to be an issue and she finally finds that happy ending that she is looking for. Marjorie ends “Tentacles of Time: A Spiritual Odyssey” with sound advice for women, which is: Read the signs along the way. Way to go Marjorie. Thanks for sharing so honestly and giving hope to those of us who are starting over in mid-life. |
