In “The Creator’s Eye: Mover of Fate: Part 1” by R.N. Feldman, we meet Michael Edwards. Michael was raised on a secret archipelago, on Earth, called Arimbol. In this protected place, there are people called Movers, who can manipulate things with their mind. There are also mysterious “folds” that seem to make areas of the land appear to be in different dimensions. Some of these folds are safe, while others can be quite dangerous.

Staying home to take care of his ailing mother, Michael is disappointed that he cannot go off to a university like his friends. He wants to be able to learn more about how to use his abilities, especially as a mover. Fortunately, he has an uncle who has sent him textbooks so that he can increase his abilities on his own.

When some demonic appearing aliens show up and start causing problems, Michael begins working with his uncle and two new friends to try to stop the destruction and deaths. He soon discovers that nothing is as he thought it was, especially with his parents and his own identity. He has the potential to be way more powerful than he could have imagined. When he learns that he is a big reason for why the aliens have invaded Arimbol, Michael knows that he must do everything in his power to stop them.

I loved reading this fantasy! The author’s wonderful imagination has created a special place with magical people and creatures. The adventure that the hero takes off on is very colorful and described in vivid detail. The reality of issues involving day-to-day life on the run helps keep the story grounded. While the characters are flying off on giant magical bird feathers, they still have to worry about being able to eat, bathe, and relieve themselves in safe places!

I appreciate that “The Creator’s Eye: Mover of Fate: Part 1” by R.N. Feldman is appropriate for both teens and adults. I think that it would be a great choice for a summer reading list, and that families would enjoy reading it and sharing the story, especially since this is only part one and more books follow. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
