"Echoes of Paradise" by Deanna Kahler is not your conventional love story. Usually boy meets girl, they fall in love, misunderstandings and conflicts happen, the couple make up and they live happily ever after. “Echoes of Paradise” challenges the formulaic love story, showcasing that love prevails even after death. Celeste and Connor are soulmates in the truest sense, but fate had different plans, and separated Celeste and Connor. Celeste now finds herself married to Dave and simply going through the motions of life, all the while yearning for Connor. Her hope seems to be ignited when life seemingly will bring Celeste and Connor together again, but tragedy strikes when Celeste learns of Connor’s death. Wracked with guilt, Celeste downward spirals, and soon strange things begin to happen. Is Connor trying to communicate with her from the other side? Can love survive even death? Celeste risks everything in her quest for truth and ultimately, her life.
“Echoes of Paradise” is a paranormal love story that delicately and intensely interweaves themes of love, fate, and death. Fast paced, creative, well written, and with enthralling characters, it’s impossible to put this book down once it’s been picked up. Celeste is a strong woman to whom the reader can immediately relate. The characters are not two-dimensional, but rather act and speak like real people. Not only that, but Kahler paints a wonderful and creative portrait of the afterlife, all her own and original.
“Echoes of Paradise” by Deanna Kahler stands alone as its own genre and novel, and I’d recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in romance, mystery, life after death, and paranormal activities. Although I was skeptical when I first read this title, I found myself completely drawn into the life and story of Celeste and her strong and everlasting bond with Connor.
