Article first published as Book Review: Q: Awakening by G.M. Lawrence on Blogcritics.
Q is a manuscript believed to be the word of God that will lead to the return of Jesus Christ. As a result, the world would be united under the cross. Naturally, other religions do not want this to occur. Therefore, they set out to locate Q first so they can do with it what they will, possibly to destroy it or decipher it in an attempt to disprove its message. This story follows several people who are interested in finding Q, each for their own personal reasons. There are even divisions within groups that are working together, which adds greatly to the drama. Figuring out who can be trusted and who may be likely to double-cross the others is half the fun.
“Q:Awakening” is an excellent book. It is set mainly in the Middle East which makes sense considering where the roots of Christianity began. The author adeptly grabbed my attention from the first page and held it throughout the entire story. He utilized several different elements that readers often respond to including: love, murder, intrigue, and secrets. There is a good amount of action incorporated into the story but I was equally impressed by the portrayal of the thought processes the characters exhibited.
“Q:Awakening” by G.M. Lawrence is the first book in a trilogy and I have nothing but high praise for its content. It is intended for an adult audience that enjoys action and has interests in the differences among religions. I can not wait to see what will befall Declan as he moves into the next phase of his quest.
