“Adrenaline Dominance” by Michael E. Platt, M.D. is an excellent resource for many health ailments that millions of people suffer from on a daily basis. I am thrilled to have found this book because I struggle with several of the health issues that are mentioned, and the simple remedy is at my fingertips.

According to Dr. Platt, the cause of many diseases comes from adrenaline dominance, or an excess amount of adrenaline produced in the body. Some of the diseases believed to be caused by too much adrenaline include ADHD, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, Anxiety, IBS, and many more. Dr. Platt also believes that other disorders have a connection with adrenaline dominance, such as PTSD, road rage, PMS, Restless-Leg Syndrome and weight gain, to name a few. Excess adrenaline is produced when the body is under stress, whether physical or mental. The author goes through many diseases and disorders, and talks about how they are connected with adrenaline dominance.

Dr. Platt’s solution for adrenaline dominance is simple. His answer lies in hormonal balance, sound nutrition and supplementation, and stress reduction. He believes in using progesterone in a bio-identical transdermal cream to restore hormonal balance within the body, and reduce adrenaline overproduction. It is also important to include a low-glycemic diet to help maintain steady insulin levels, which can aid in weight loss.

As a 44 year-old woman in peri-menopause, I am eager to apply Dr. Platt’s suggestions to my own life. Depression also runs in my family, and it will be interesting to see how his plan will help with mental health. Natural solutions for better health is always a priority for me, and Dr. Platt has some great advice I plan to try to improve my health and give my body and mind more balance.
