One glance at the dark, ominous figure overshadowing the globe on the cover of “Antitheus” by G.A. Minton, and I knew I was in for a wild ride. Once I picked it up it was hard to put down, and I devoured this chilling horror story in no time!
A nasty blizzard set to hit the Sierra Nevada Mountains does not bode well for a group of clergymen attending a religious conference at The Goldmine Lodge. When the lodge owner discovers one of the holy leaders has been brutally mutilated, it soon becomes clear to the group that they are dealing with an unknown, inhuman entity. The religious leaders are being targeted one by one, each grisly death accompanied by a warning taken completely out of context from the Bible. In this ultimate battle of Good versus Evil, the remaining survivors must work together to overthrow a seemingly indestructible foe—before the entire earth is overcome by unrelenting malevolent evil.
First off, let me just say there is a lot of action packed in this relatively short read of just over 230 pages. Minton wastes no time getting down to the shockingly horrific details. The tone and pace of the entire story is set in the first few pages with the discovery of the gory remains of the first victim, Preacher Stan Loomis.
I’m always in awe of how horror authors come up with some of their shocking material because my mind just doesn’t work that way, and Minton doesn’t disappoint with his incredibly creative imagination. Using spirituality and religion as a fear tactic just seems to increase the tension for me, as I inevitably conjure up the hellfire and damnation sermons from my youth. Talk about scary stuff!
I highly recommend “Antitheus” by G.A. Minton to all fans of the epic battle of Good versus Evil. It is very well written with believable authentic characters that will have you praying for their safety. Clear your schedule and be prepared to read this story in one or two sittings. The execution, pace and petrifying terror will keep you fixed to your seat!
