Bling, a beautiful Irish Setter with a silky red coat, can’t help herself when she sees a fluffy tail hopping past the window she’s looking out of in Bling’s on the Trail of a Fluffy Puffy Tail by Dawn Secord. She eagerly runs out the door to see if the other animals had seen the fluffy tail of what she thinks belongs to a squirrel. She goes to Madame Butterfly, Armadillo, Speckled Frog, and even Spotted Horse, trying to collect any clues these animals might have seen while they were outside. Is she able to finally find out who the fluffy tail belongs to?

The first distinctive thing that stood out was how the story is written in rhyme, and readers will easily fall into that cadence as they start reading this delightful story. It’s fun reading along or out loud, and this story just naturally falls into a rhyming cadence. This reviewer feels this added a cherry on the top of this children’s book right from the start.

Another point to mention is that the characters are such a pleasure to get to know. They seem so real that readers will feel they are standing right next to each one as Bling is running around between them trying to find clues as to whose tail just hopped past her window. Each character had a distinctive personality, but all fit so well together that one will easily see why they all get along with one another throughout the pages.
