Everyone has good and bad things happening to them at any given time, but it’s how we handle our mental attitude, specifically during those bad times, that makes a tremendous difference in our overall well-being in “The Quest for Happiness: To Be Happy, Or Not to Be Happy. The Choice Is Yours” by Paula Price. We need to be wise and adapt ways we can create our own happiness no matter what circumstances surround us at any given time. We are responsible for ourselves, so why not try to see the positive in things, even when it might be a difficult task to do at the time? You are the master of your mental and physical health and it’s up to you to take care of yourself.

In this Self-Help manual, Ms. Price presents a plethora of ways for us to view how we see things in our lives. She emphasizes that we can either see all the bad things as being negatives that eat at us emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally or we can take those negative experiences and find some good in them, accepting them as a learning experience for positive growth. She offers ideas such as creating a space for yourself that makes you happy and prompts you to do self-love as a daily routine for your health and well-being.

One thing that truly resounded with this reviewer was how Price mentioned that in order to resonate love with others, you must first heal any trauma you have experienced in your life and learn to love yourself first. One suggestion offered is to learn to meditate. Also, another topic discussed was that happiness can be found in the simplest of places. You don’t have to be wealthy to do positive things for yourself. Take a cooking class to further your cooking skills, learn a new hobby, visit a friend you haven’t seen in a while, visit a spiritual place of worship, or even volunteer time with children or senior citizens.

Another topic worth mentioning is that the author strongly feels that education is for life, and everyone should openly look forward to continuing their education in some things that will give them overall happiness. She doesn’t mean the conventional accounting or history classes for a degree, although that could be an avenue worth pursuing if that is a long-term goal of yours. Instead, look to further your knowledge in classes like painting, dancing, or even woodworking. She states that when you choose to seek knowledge, it can open new doors for you and spark new interests and hobbies you never knew existed. In doing so, you are in the process of practicing self-love.

This is one self-help book that can be used by readers of any age, and everyone will come away from reading it with something new they can do for themselves. It reinforces you are the master of your domain, and you alone can take the negative in your life and turn it into a positive. It won’t always be an easy task to achieve, but it can be accomplished if you put your mind to it.

“The Quest for Happiness” by Paula Price provides each reader with a few take-away points to try in their own lives, to help them work on creating a happy environment they can grow in. In learning new things and growing, you are on the continued path of self-love. This book comes highly recommended! Well done, Ms. Price!
