Kate Preacher is “Unstoppable.”
That’s not hyperbole; it’s fact. Her husband proclaimed her so one fateful day, and it remains true of her very core nature. She is brilliant, with a pedigree few people in the world could come close to. She’s also the foe that no one wants, and she’s on a mission that she will not deviate from until it’s completed.
‘Vengeance may be the lord’s, but beware the woman with nothing left to lose.’ —Katherine Preacher
Michael Maloof’s debut novel “Relentless” introduced the indomitable Kate Preacher as a strong, fierce, valiant woman very much in love with her husband, Jake. Theirs has been a storybook romance. Kate is former CIA, a world-class chess player, and the only woman who could turn the head of former Navy SEAL Jake Church. “Relentless” gave thriller fans a breathtaking story that engaged readers with page one and never let go. With book two, “Unstoppable,” Michael Maloof proves he’s not a one-hit wonder as he provides his burgeoning legion of fans with another nail-biting roller coaster ride full of grit, action, honor, teamwork, and strong-as-steel characters.
“Unstoppable” takes readers to Paris on the hunt for a traitorous killer, then on to a small country in Africa where the stakes are high, and the natural resources seem to carry more value than the lives of its people. Themes of loyalty, selflessness, and the reverence of life run throughout this monumental story line. The remarkable characters who display courage and strength are balanced by a host of despicable, soul-sucking bad guys who see the world as theirs to plunder. Life is cheap to them and power is essential. They’re not always easy to spot as the plot unfolds.
The storyline is magnetic as a group of genuine heroes realize it’s up to them to do the impossible. The odds aren’t good (okay- they’re terrible), but there’s no one else to stand in this gap. But these men and women are the one-percenters who have the training and the experience to do what no one else can or will do, and will put their lives on the line to get it done.
The Kate Preacher Thriller Series has everything fans of this genre expect: genuinely compelling characters, a solid fast-paced storyline, unexpected twists, bad politicians, and some seriously high stakes. There may even be a touch of the paranormal, as a Maasai named Nuru and a prowling lion leave their marks.
‘A lion cannot be anything but a lion.’ –Nuru
Michael Maloof’s “Unstoppable” is decidedly so, as fans will not be able to put this one down. Those who have read the first book will find answers to questions they didn’t know they had in this novel. Whether you’ve read the first book or not, “Unstoppable” can easily stand on its own as witness to Mr. Maloof’s literary prowess. However, readers will find the most enjoyment if they begin with book one, “Relentless,” to fully understand the depth of these characters and their history. However you choose to approach it, do not miss Michael Maloof’s “Unstoppable.” It’s high-octane reading at its best.
